Things To Do In May
How to keep busy in Colorado Springs
There are so many things to do in May! Did you know that May is Older Americans Month? Seniors across the country can find activities to celebrate this year’s theme, Engage at Every Age. Don’t forget about Mother’s Day and Memorial Day. With so many options, here is a list of fun activities to keep you busy as we welcome Spring!
- The Senior’s Council of Douglas County is holding a Vintage & Vibrant event at the Douglas County Event Center, on Wednesday, May 2, from 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. This event is only $5 and includes morning and afternoon refreshments, lunch, workshops, and other activities. Speakers include, Karen Brown, the Chair of the 2018 Colorado Strategic Action Planning Group on Aging, Wade Buchanan the Governor’s Senior Advisor on Aging, and Professor Mahoor of the University of Denver.
- There are so many ways to celebrate your mom on Mother’s Day! Here are a couple unique ways to celebrate: All moms have free admission at the Colorado Railroad Museum and you have the opportunity to ride behind a historic Denver & Rio Grande Western steam locomotive! If your mom likes ceramics, wood, glass, jewelry, or handmade crafts of any kind, you might consider taking her to the Denver Potters Association Spring Show & Sale, at the Sixth Avenue United Church, from May 10 – May 13.
- Memorial Day is a great time to get together with friends and family, enjoy the (hopefully) pleasant weather, and honor those who gave their lives for our country. You can do all of this at the 43rd Annual Territory Days in Colorado Springs. The event, which runs May 26 – May 28, will include one of the state’s largest craft vendor fairs and features pony rides, Cowboy Church Service, wild west gunfight re-enactments, Native American dancers, live music, and so much more! On Monday, May 29th at 3 p.m. there will be a gathering to remember and pay respect to our nation’s fallen soldiers.
With so many things to do in May, you are sure to stay busy and have fun throughout the month!
