The leaves are changing, the temps are cooling, and pumpkin spice is in all of our foods. It’s Fall!  Even if you don’t look forward to the chillier weather, it’s hard to deny the beauty of the changing colors. Whether you want to enjoy the colors of the season or prefer the warmth of indoor events, here is a list of things to do in fall in our community this Fall.

October is Arts Month in the Pikes Peak region. The goal of Arts Month is to “have at least one new cultural experience with family or friends during the month of October!” Paintings, sculptures, writings, performing arts! “The adventurous spirit of the Old West is coming to the Glen Eyrie this October.” The Flying W Wranglers will be performing on Thursday, October 11, at Glen Eyrie. The group has been performing traditional country, swing, and gospel music since 1953! They’ve performed in numerous premier venues across the country and bring a boot-stomping good time to all of their concerts. Tickets range in price from $19 – $39.

The Colorado Springs Senior Center is hosting their 2nd Annual 50+ Yoga Retreat on Saturday, October 20, 8:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Enjoy a day of relaxation with classes in different styles of yoga, stress management, breathing techniques, and more. Beginners and experts alike, can come enjoy a healthy lunch, giveaways, a keynote speaker, and more.

The largest pumpkins in the state will take over Old Colorado City on Saturday, October 21, at the Giant Pumpkin Festival. There will be prizes, costumes, scarecrows, music, food, shopping, and more! This is a free event and will be fun for all ages. The festival kicks off at 10:00 a.m. and goes to 3:00 p.m.

Veterans Day

things to do in fall veterans dayNovember brings us Veteran’s Day, a day to recognize and honor our veterans. This year’s Colorado Springs Veterans Day Parade starts at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3. The theme is Celebrating 100 Years of Armistice/Veterans Day 1918-2018. The parade route starts at St. Vrain Street and runs south on Tejon Street, ending at Vermijo Avenue.
