Here are a few FREE ideas to get out you out of the house and enjoying what the community has to offer.
- Did you know that every third Wednesday, Ruth Holley Library has a Lunch and Movie Event? This January 15, you can bring a lunch and enjoy the free movie, “Where’d You Go, Bernadette?”. This movie stars Cate Blanchett as a successful architect with a beautiful family who suddenly disappears, and her families adventure to find her.
- “Expressive writing helps relieve the effects of trauma on your life and reduces stress.” That’s the main idea behind the Veterans Writing Workshop put on by Colorado Humanities and Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center. Veterans and their family members or caregivers can attend the workshop and learn about the benefits of writing to your overall wellness, and different ways to approach writing. Every Thursday this January, join the group to find the best writing style for you!
- The Rockrimmon Library offers Senior Chats every Thursday, from 10 am – 11:30am. This is an informal social gathering for seniors. You can share information about any topic and get in some good networking while sipping on some coffee with your peers.
- A group of Benedictine Fathers opened a winery at the Holy Cross Abbey in Canon City in 2002. The historic abbey is surrounded by beautiful scenery and covered with amazing architecture, so whether you drink wine or not, it is worth the visit! However, if you do visit The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey and you do enjoy wine, then you should definitely check out their FREE wine tasting! Most wines are free, but there are some special wines that are $1 to try. You also have the option of enjoying a VIP wine and cheese tasting for $30 per person.
